Jerusalem: Wet, Windy and Wonderful

In Jerusalem, Israel,

it was a wet and wild week.

On a clear day on a walk into town,

I found this interesting door, but did not enter.

Nearby,

But the wet weather this past week

Rainy day in Jerusalem Israel, dark, wet and cold

often made for dark and dreary photos.

Can you tell those are  the walls of the Old City

After heavy rains

This IKEA umbrella could not withstand the Jerusalem weather.

IKEA is to open another Israeli store in Beer Sheva.

When it rains and the wind blows,

it’s best to forget using any umbrella.

Besides the weather,

which closed Agrippas Street with mountains of mess.

The only good part of it was that it was short and soon cleaned up.

However,

while the weather and strikes made news,

there were good things happening too.

International visitors gathered to celebrate weddings,

bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs, and more.

Off the Jerusalem streets,

in Beit Hanasi, the Israeli President’s Residence,

another 929 Bible Study group was held.

The chapter of the day was

from Shir HaShirim, the Song of Songs,

read by actor and radio announcer Dan Caner.

He read beautifully.

This is the 16th time the Rivlins have hosted

the daily Bible study initiative.

The main hall was filled with guests as speakers

elaborated and studied the text.

Another closed event was held at the King David Hotel.

Wet and wild weather

left the skies clear and clean and blue,

and it was hard to figure out what to wear.

Will it be hot or cold?

No one knows what will happen next .

But of one thing you can be sure,

 will be impressive.

Warm Story for a Cold Week

It is foggy, grey and wet outside.

The white snow seems so long ago.

Last week the colors were so beautiful,

Jerusalem marathon

it was perfect weather to train for Jerusalem’s marathon next month.

Even now, tree cuttings  still block many parks and sidewalks,

with even more cuttings appearing after the first cleanup.

So much talk this week was of weather and elections.

It wasn’t just branches that were blocking sidewalks in Jerusalem, Israel.

These TV news trucks were parked on the sidewalks near Beit Hanasi,

the President’s residence, as they waited for official election results.

However, before the rain started on Monday,

there was a very special wedding in Jerusalem.

Rain drops fell as the chupah stood ready outside,

But were there any dry eyes at this celebration?

Gil Efrati has never been married before,

and now he is the father to seven beautiful children.

After Rabbi Meir Avshalom Chai z”l was murdered,

Elisheva Chai was able to raise a wonderful family.

She gives credit to the support they received from OneFamily.

Cars are honking, people are cranky and trying to stay warm.

I am so glad for this wonderful story to warm up

an other wise cold and dreary week.

Chasing Rainbows on a Rainy Day in Jerusalem

After hours and hours of rain and wind,

the weather cleared a bit in Jerusalem, Israel, today.

Gan Sacher

If it keeps raining Gan Sacher will look more like a lake than a park.

Gan Sacher

The city has trimmed and cleaned up a lot recently,

so only a few big trees went down.

I wanted to get a better shot of this tree, but the rain started again.

Gan Sacher , Sacher park

I love how nothing is level around here,

not even the water filling a container for empty ashes from BBQs.

Gan Sacker

The birds were happy and the grass was green.

And I was very happy

GAsn Sacher, SAcher park

to see a lone jogger so that I was not the only crazy person outside.

The sun was in and out, and I kept hoping for a rainbow.

The best I could get was a break in the clouds

and a few drops on water on my lens.

It rained all afternoon again, pouring is more like it .

Tomorrow Gan Sacher will either be a lake

or if it gets cold it will be covered with snow,

a sight we are all waiting to see.
