Time for a Break

Too many things this week are too difficult to understand.

20 Kassam rockets and mortar shells have landed in Israel from Gaza,

while Israel sent hundreds of trucks filled with tens of 1000’s of tons

of goods and fuel into Gaza just this past week.

Activists from around the world fight to get to Jerusalem to protest,

while the world ignores that east Africa is starving.

The murder of Leiby Kletzky z”l in Brooklyn is impossible to comprehend,

as is strapping explosives to a child making her a walking bomb,

 as they did in Afghanistan.

When child safety is not a basic belief…it is too difficult to understand.

Time to take a break for something sweeter, perhaps an ice cream

or melon that is now in season.

Or sport,

as dozens of teams gathered in Kikar Safra, Safra Square,

for a basketball derby.

A few young women wore colored team shirts

and possibly a future star could be found in the crowd.

Cyclists were out adding color to the streets.

From Kraft Stadium,

a Woodstock revival filled the air with music and smoke.

The Thursday night audience was colorful…

very colorful!

The heavy warm air of last week brought vivid colors

to the summer skies at sunset,

a perfect time to take a break and just enjoy the view.

After the dark of night…the colors at sunrise were again hard to describe.

From the darkness of last week to the light of another day…

for the refuah shelamah of Tzuriya Kochevet Bat Sarah,

may the colors of sunrise be in your future for many years to come.

Thank you for a lovely post and especially the reference to Tzuriya Kochevet bat Sara. She is very much a part of what makes each day, which begins with such beautiful sunrises, so special for so many of us. May HaShem hear our cries and bring a refua shleima!

I do hope that you will be covering Glenn Beck’s upcoming rally “to restore courage” which is set to take place on August 24 in Jerusalem. He, if one does not know of him, is very, very pro-Israel and is brutally outspoken regarding his views on Israel and its situation. We should take close note of what he has to say.

Glenn Beck’s Jerusalem rally program unveiled
TV star’s solidarity event is expected to draw thousands of Israelis, Americans with music, pyrotechnics. Sarah Palin, republican presidential candidates set to drop by
In the Knesset, Beck discussed how the shocking reality of Israeli everyday life, under constant threat of terrorism, does not prevent the public from living their lives comfortably and casually.
In his classic simplified yet brazen style, the pundit explained “the few things I actually know” about Israel:
    1) The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is about destruction of Israel and the west.
    2) Anti-semitism is going to go through the roof. When these conditions appear, it’s always the Jews fault. It’s not about the holocaust, (that’s) just the latest in a string of events thousands of years. Holocaust is just the one they made a movie about. It was the same way all the time.
    3) The world is about to change, so think differently. Everything you thought you can count on, forget about it, (and) create new systems.
    4) The truth shall set you free.
Beck then explained that his plan for Israel advocacy is based on communal outreach. “If you go to a synagogue, reach out to a church. If you go to a church, reach out to a JCC. Say, will you watch this with me? After that we’ll talk and eat and get to know one another.”

    What do you think?????

I know that some very pro-Israel supporters are planning to come to Jerusalem to attend and show their support for Israel. If ‘Restoring Courage’ draws a crowd, then the Real Streets has to be there!

Some good news from Jerusalem, the smell of smoke is lessening, the forest fire must be under control finally!

        Hi!
Thank you for caring about me and my country. My and my family are ok. Saddes days ever for our country since war II.
I`v read about president Shimon Peres calling to our King. It warms our country that everyone cares so much. Especially those of you who have experienced so much hurt yourself.. we have seen it so many times in the news.., when it affects us, it is so close and we know what others have to live with in other parts of the world..
I’ve written a bit on my blog, http://spiderfruen.blogspot.com/

        God bless you,
        Hugs from Tania

I agree, time for a break. A break from the heat (yeah, right), a break from anti-semitism (yeah, RIGHT!), a break from sad news, a break from the mindless hatred in this world, a break from the machloket between Jews (who needs outside enemies??!! we’re our own enemy), a break from the idiocy of the government – both national and local, a break from keeping necessary eagle-eyed security, a break for our dear, valiant, young chayalim, a break for cholim to have speedy, complete refuahs, a break for peace so all k’lal yisrael can live, ordinary, secure, tranquil, happy, fulfilling, content lives. Great pics Sharon. Keep up the good work.
